Pink Saturday Party Ideas

I came up with a few Pink party ideas for Pink Saturday!
I think the chocolate will taste even better coming out of a pink fountain.
This is a homemade pinata...how cute is that?

How about a pink limo to take you to your celebration?

Yummy cream puffs with pink sugar. Great for a fairy tea party.

I think I will go and get a piece of this pink cake and visit the rest of the great pink posts at Beverly's. Won't you join me?
Happy Pink Saturday!

Breakfast at Tiffany's Party

The day finally arrived! After weeks of planning, we celebrated Suzanne's 50th birthday in style!

The hostess committee as well as the guests all dressed in black dresses and pearls to set the tone of the party.

On Friday, Sandy, Debbie and I headed down to the LA flower mart to buy the fresh flowers for the party. I bought white roses, white stock, blue hydrangeas and day lillies.

Most of the arrangements were done in mint julep cups to give a nod to Suzanne's Southern heritage.

I bought little Tiffany blue boxes and they were filled with Hershey kisses and tied with a white ribbon. The "tea girls" gave Suzanne a Breakfast at Tiffany's themed basket filled with champagne, the movie, cracker jacks and a "Tiffany"-style bracelet.

Belinda hosted it at her home and here she is decorating the Red Velvet cake (another Southern favortie of Suzanne's)

Marina was carefully making the mini Bloody Mary shrimp cockatils. They were a little top heavy and Marina happened to bump one of the glasses and they all went down like dominoes!

I did the mini lemon wedges.

Oops!

Marina doesn't seem too upset. We just roll with the punches!

Yummy cupcake petit fours that Marina made.

Favor boxes

Blue Raspberry Tootsie Roll Pops and Tifany Blue mints.

Easy to make tissue balls. About 50 cents each.

Dessert table complete with to-go boxes.

I made the crystal tree with branches from my front yard tree. I spray painted it white, used 14 gauge wire to support the branches. Then I hung the crystals with fishing wire.
It looked so pretty with the candlelight.
We served tea sandwiches, bruchetta, onion souffle and crackers and mushroom pinwheels. I made the punch (that was blue) out of Berry Blue Kool Aid, frozen Pina Colada mix and Sprite. The martini glasses were lined with blue sugar.

Suzanne was very surprised. She had no idea what the theme was. We just told her to wear black and pearls. Her mom flew out from North Carolina to join us.

The hostesses and birthday girl.

Sandy with the birthday cake.

That's 50 candles on there!

There were also 50 guests there to celebrate.

Suzanne loved her bracelet.

I made up a DVD of Suzanne's family photos and told them the entire horror story of "losing" the wedding pictures.

Suzanne had such a wonderful time and her mama said it was the best party Suzanne ever had! I just know that we love Suzanne and had a great time putting it together for her.
Next, we will be planning a 50th birthday party for Marina in November.

Pink Saturday at Bella Cottage

Last Friday, I drove to Bella Cottage, trying to beat a rain storm, to pick up Sheridan's bookcases that I had ordered a few weeks ago.
There was a delivery truck blocking the door for me to put the bookcases in my van so I had some time to look around. Unfortunately, I didn't bring my camera but luckily, they have a website.
There was such eye candy there and of course, lots of pink!
All of the furniture is white and the accessories are pink, green and blue.
I think I will go back for the milk glass sconces for over Sheridan's bed.
Have a great time looking at the over-abundance of pink at Bevely's blog.

Donna in Wonderland

I got a call the other day from a client who would like me to host an Alice in Wonderland Tea party for her daughter's 4th birthday next month. If you have seen my website, you know I offer theme "packages" to my clients and unfortunately, an Alice Tea party isn't one of them!

Ahhh...the power of suggestion. I am a marketing firm's dream!
As soon as I told my client that I didn't have that party theme, I immediately started researching how I could put one together! I did some major web surfing and found some amazing inspiration!
I ADORE this custom hand-painted croquet set.
I will start to design and paint this next week!
What about this gorgeous throne for "Alice"

to sit in at her Mad Tea party!
Yeah, I can paint that too!

Tea set...check!
Giant butterflies and paper lanterns...check!
Adorable signs...put on painting list.

What about a rabbit for the table? Topiaries with red roses?
Of course, crazy hats for the guests to wear to the tea party!

Then I went on a website that has very high-end display
pieces. This 5 ft. rabbit is on sale for $325.

But this "official" White Rabbit complete with heart pocket watch-$560, on sale!

Maybe I will just dress up as the Queen of Hearts and have the little kiddies dress up instead.
Then they can stuff their own flamingos...how cute are these!

I am off to the Flower Mart Friday morning to buy flowers for

my friend's Breakfast at Tiffany's party on Sunday and

Chasen is bridging to Boy Scouts Friday night.

Saturday afternoon, I am hosting a Make-A-Bear party for 15 and

then attending Chasen's baseball game Saturday night.

Sunday is the big day of the party! I will post pictures on Monday.

So next week, I will have plenty of time to plan this party! :)

Totally Tabletops

I am being featured over at Totally Tabletops today!
Sheena is highlighting my Chinese Tea Party that I hosted for Sheridan in November.
She has so many inspiring things, please go check it out!

She also has a website called 12 Too Many. It is for people to buy and sell party goods from previously hosted parties. How cool is that!

Birthday Cupcake

I've been busy planning Chasen's 11th birthday for JUNE!
I sent in the deposit for Camp Valley Trails where the birthday boy and his guests will enjoy rock wall climbing and flying on a zip line. The camp is also serving us dinner of hot dogs and chips and we will be making s'mores around the campfire.
So what will the birthday cake be?
Once again, Martha has come to my rescue!
I googled camping cupcake and found this amazing recipe for a s'more cupcake.
It has a graham cracker crust, chocolate cupcake with more graham cracker topping and a toasted marshmallow frosting.
I know it's a bit sophisticated, but Chasen is turning 11.
I called him over to get his "opinion" and....
he LOVED it! YEAH!
His party is June 5th so I will keep you posted....:)
Chocolate Graham Cracker Cupcakes
Makes 2 dozen
2 1/4 cups plus 2 tablespoons sugar
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon cocoa powder (not Dutch-processed)
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs (from about 20 squares)
1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
9 ounces bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
Marshmallow Frosting
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line 2 standard muffin tins with cupcake liners; set aside.
Sift 2 cups plus 2 tablespoons sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together into the bowl of an electric mixer. Using the paddle attachment, mix ingredients together on low speed.
In a large bowl, mix together eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Add to flour mixture and beat on medium speed for 30 seconds. Scrape down sides of bowl and continue mixing on medium speed for 2 minutes. Add boiling water and stir to combine; set cake batter aside.
Place graham cracker crumbs, remaining 1/4 cup sugar, and melted butter in a large bowl; stir until well combined.
Place 1 tablespoon graham cracker mixture into the bottom of each prepared muffin cup. Use the bottom of a small glass to pack crumbs into the bottom of each cupcake liner. Reserve remaining graham cracker mixture for topping.
Place 2 teaspoons chocolate in each muffin cup. Transfer muffin tins to oven and bake until the edges of the graham cracker mixture is golden, about 5 minutes. Remove from oven and fill each muffin cup three-quarters full with cake batter. Sprinkle each with remaining chocolate and graham cracker mixture. Return to oven and bake, rotating pans halfway through baking, until tops are firm and a cake tester inserted in the center comes out clean, 18 to 20 minutes. Transfer muffin tins to a wire rack and let cupcakes cool in pan for 10 minutes. Remove cupcakes from pan and let cool completely.
Transfer frosting to a large pastry bag fitted with a large plain round or French tip (such as Ateco #867 or Ateco #809). Pipe frosting in a spiral motion on each cupcake. Transfer cupcakes to a baking sheet. Using a kitchen torch, lightly brown the frosting, taking care not to burn the cupcake liners. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container, up to 2 days.
Marshmallow Frosting
Makes enough for 2 dozen cupcakes
8 large egg whites
2 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
Directions
Place egg whites, sugar, and cream of tartar in the heatproof bowl of an electric mixer. Set over a saucepan with simmering water. Whisk constantly until sugar is dissolved and whites are warm to the touch, 3 to 4 minutes.
Transfer bowl to electric mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, and beat, starting on low speed, gradually increasing to high, until stiff, glossy peaks form, 5 to 7 minutes. Add vanilla, and mix until combined. Use immediately.

Pink Valentine Saturday

Happy Valentine's Day!
I will be making Pink chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast and then
I will be going out to lunch with 4 of my loves; my husband and 3 kids.
Hope you are able to check out the other fun Valentine pinks at Beverly's.
