Random Acts of Kindness

My daughter is in the 5th grade and I have been her Girl Scout leader since she was in Kindergarten (with a year off). For their holiday party this year, the girls decided to do random acts of kindness around the neighborhood to spread some joy.
We started at our own elementary school by putting a popcorn tin in the teacher's lounge, taped some coins to their vending machine and putting some cupcakes in their fridge as well. The girls were so excited to be in the "forbidden" teacher's lounge!
We traveled to our local grocery store and passed out roses to the clerks and moms. There was also a Red Box there so we taped bags of microwave popcorn onto it so people could enjoy popcorn while they watched their movie.
I taped some quarters to Lotto machine hoping it will help someone win a jackpot!
We headed down to Starbucks and passed out free drink cards and roses to ladies working on their laptops.
We flagged down people heading through the drive thru at McDonald's and handed out gift cards. This lady rolled down her window to tell us she didn't have any cash on her. She was shocked when we told her we wanted to give HER something!
One scout baked cookies and we dropped them off at our sheriff station. The girls also passed out candy canes and cupcakes to kids.
After we spread our holiday joy, we headed over to another scout's house and had some yummy treats such as potato latkes, Christmas cookies and hot chocolate.
The girls had so much fun, they want to do this again for Valentine's Day!

I didn't know you were still the leader for your daughter! I thought you were doing Brownies only and then someone else took over. Glad to hear you are still the leader! I can steel ideas from you :)

Like this one!!!! I'm having my girls do this for sure. We can start to work on it next year. Maybe do it in Feb or something.

Do you have a GS blog? I think you did for Brownies. You shared it with me before before I can't find it now :(

You can always go to my GS blog to see what we have been up to. Maybe we could get our troops to be sister troops and have them get together some time. I think that would be a blast.
