CocoCola Cake

My daughter is in the 5th grade and they have been studying the different States. She focused on the state of Ohio. For Open House last night, the students had to bring in a food to share that represented their state. Since CocaCola is manufactured in Ohio, we made a CocaCola Cake.
I put samples in mini souffle cups and made tags for the sandwich picks.
You see these adorable frame stands from IKEA at every party!
I downloaded the CocaCola ii font for the signage.
I even got some red Gerbera daisies to put in Coke bottles for the display.

Not a drop came home! I found the recipe on this blog. Use baking SODA instead of power so the cake will rise. From reading the comments, I found out that the buttermilk reacts better with the baking soda.

Hunger Games Wedding

I can't believe the Hunger Games movie will open in just a few days. My son is going to the midnight showing on Thursday and my daughter was invited to see it this weekend with her girlfriend. I will just have to sneak away when the kids are in school to see it!
I came across this Hunger Games inspired wedding shoot from Handspun Weddings. They came up with some amazing ideas of what they thought Katniss and Peeta's wedding would be styled like. Love the arrow and pinecone flower bouquets!

The winner of my Hunger Games necklace giveaway is #13 comment-Kristie!
Please contact me ASAP so I can get this necklace to you!

May the Odds Be ever in Your Favor!

I can't wait for the Hunger Games movie to come out next Friday! In honor of Katniss and Peeta, I am giving away a handmade mockingjay necklace made by Dashwood Shoppe. To enter, leave a comment about the Hunger Games-what you are excited to see in the movie, what District you would want to be from or if you are a Capitol member. Are you Team Peeta or Team Gale? Only one comment, please.
Winner will be selected on Tuesday March 20. I'm hoping to get the necklace to the winner by the opening of the movie! May the odds be ever in your favor!

Lorax Party

I am in love with this Lorax party designed by Gwynn Wasson Designs.
This is perfect for a child's birthday party or an Earth Day celebration.
The message of the book and film is to  conserve and recycle. Wonderful lessons for everyone!
Some of the activities are planting seeds and a recycling sorting relay. The cakepops she used are amazing, too. Don't forget to check out her blog for more pictures and to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday tomorrow, March 2.
