This was our first family vacation in 3 years. Our first stop was at Hearst Castle. I hadn't been there since I was 19. It is just incredible! The kids wanted to swim in the Nepture Pool and indoor pool. I was in awe of the 3500 year old Egyptian statues.
We went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium on Day 2. Lunch at Bubba Gump's and tour of the Victorian homes in Pacific Grove.
We took a tour of the Point Sur Lighthouse. We climbed an elevation of 300' and the tour lasted over 3 hours! Sheridan had to have a light prism of her own (it looks like a giant diamond) Girls just love all sparkly things!
Chasen and I took a hike up the hill above our lodge and saw the recent fire damage. It was amazing how close it came to the Big Sur Lodge.
On our way back home, we encountered a herd of Elephant Seals on the beach south of Cambria. Totally cool! The females and babies were sunning themselves on the beach while the males were having a slug fest in the surf.
It was a great vacation and we now await the first day of school on Wednesday...yeah!

How fun! We are thinking about heading up there there later in September...I just love the area. It's also where we spent our honeymoon so it hold a special place in our heart...Karin@creativechaos
