My Favorite Thing (in my house)

Cindy from My Romantic Home is asking us what is our favorite thing-materialistic, NOT a person. My favorite thing in my house is my dining room hutch with my antique dishes in it. The hutch cost $400 and I think it looks 10 times that amount! It is filled with all my little treasures. I love red, pink, blue and green...I can't seem to pick a favorite!

Norton Simon Museum

Sculpture Garden

I took the kids to the Norton Simon Museum. If you've seen the Rose Parade on New Year's Day, you've seen the building in the background. Born and raised in LA, I have never visited this museum. It was just awe-inspiring! It is always amazing to see these famous works of art up close. We joined my friend, Jan, and her 2 kids (they live in Pasadena) and enjoyed the museum together. Later, we trekked down the street to Old Town Pasadena for a frozen yogurt. The kids really had a wonderful time!

This was our 6th season with the Northbridge Bluefins. For the last 8 weeks we have been at the pool Monday-Thursday 4:00-6:30pm with 4 Saturday swim meets starting with 6:30 am check-ins. We just LOVE it and now we still have 4 weeks left of summer vaycay to have some new adventures!

Morning at the Greens

My husband and I took our daughter to the local golf course to hit a few balls around. My husband and I have been golfing since we were kids and Sheridan took golf in after school enrichment classes. Since she got all A's on her report card (totally bragging), so I bought her a new set of pink LEFT handed clubs.

I learned how to golf at Vista Valencia Golf Course so it was sort of surreal when I saw a guy there who I used to golf with when I was 13. He is now the pro at the golf course!

Ghostbusters

Slime (lime Jello)
Tonight, we had a backyard showing of Ghostbusters. We roasted marshmallows (in honor of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man) and made s'mores. The centerpiece consisted of Slimer and lime Jello made to look like slime. The kids also got to make some "slime". I found the recipe on the internet but it came out VERY runny. We had to add a lot more glue to it! Next week, The Incredibles!

I made it on a Magazine Cover!

No, really, I made it on FlickrToys. Too much fun!

Movie Madness

It's movie maddness at our house! I have been showing backyard movies for friends and family. It all started when I wanted to do a Sound of Music Sing-a-long like at the Hollywood Bowl. I have attended the one at the bowl for the last 6 years. I thought I would be traveling to England in Sept. at the same time of the Bowl's showing so I didn't want to miss out. Unfortunately, my friends are unable to accompany me (plus the dollar stinks over there!) so I will be able to attend at the Bowl with 9 of my friends. I bought a projector from http://www.circutcity.com/ for $400 plus a free screen and then I purchased Fender PA-150 speakers on ebay. Viola! Instant movie theatre!
Here I am with the winners of the Sound of Music costume contest. They are "Brown paper packages tied up with string!"

I LOVE planning the table decor and menu. I invite people to bring a picnic dinner. I usually have fixin's for s'mores complete with roasting forks and fire pit.

For the screening of "When Harry Met Sally", I served apple pie with strawberry ice cream on the side, of course! It was a New Year's theme. It was 95 degrees at night-definetly NOT like winter in New York!

For "Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were Rabbit", I offered cheese, crackers and veggies to my guests. The kids even roasted the veggies!

This is from Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark--Snakes everywhere!!!

I'm planning an Oklahoma! Sing-a-long on July 26 and invite the people to dress as a farmer or cowboy and bring a pie to share.
I even had a showing of Mary Poppins!

On August 16, I will have a Grease Sing-a-long and have everyone dress as their favorite Pink Lady or T-bird. I will also have a sundae bar!

With the cost of gas and movie prices, this is a fun alternative to entertain.
