Pink Saturday

Another Pink Saturday hosted by How Sweet the Sound. I'm so honored to be a part of it!
On to the pictures...This is my chandelier in my dining room. I bought both the chandelier and the shades from the Rose Bowl Swap Meet. The chandelier was brass to begin with and I painted it white and made the white raw silk chain cover.
This is a crown I give to my birthday girl's for my Princess parties. It's always a big hit. The guests always want one and I tell them they are only for the birthday girl. I seem to book a lot of parties that way!
This is a pitcher that matches my Great-Granmother's china. I only have the one plate from her. It is a Haviland pattern and I wish I knew the name of it. Does anyone know? I think it has Dogwood Blossoms on it.
This is me giving a facial demonstration for one of my Spa Girlz parties. (it's my most popular!) All of the decor is pink for this party...the robes, flowers, tablecloth, lip gloss kit and custom lotion come in pink! The mirrors even have pink marabou around them!

Thanks for stopping by!

School Valet

Chasen is now in the 5th grade and eligible to be a student valet in the morning. They are trained by the Sheriff's Dept. and have to arrive at school by 7:30. The school has a special section marked off in front of the school where the valets help the students out of their cars and walk them to class, if needed. Chasen and the other valets, open the car door, say "Good morning", help the kids out and then say to the parent "Have a nice day". Sheridan wanted to help too but she has to wait a few more years. They did a great job and made morning traffic a little nicer!

Laptop Lunches

I enjoy volunteering at my kids' school and I'm trying to do my part to have a cleaner planet by using GREEN items in my house from the toilet cleaner to our shampoo. We have 2 recycle bins to our 1 trash can. So I was quite delighted to find Laptop Lunches. It is a lunch system that is completely waste-free.
Did you know the averge student generates 67 lbs. of lunch waste every school year? For the size of our school, that is an average of 33 TONS of lunch trash ALONE! Did you know that lead has been found in kid's vinyl lunchboxes? Did you know that we use millions of water bottles a day and only a small percentage are recycled?
Laptop Lunches are made of safe plastics, are dishwasher safe and recyclable. So I am heading up a fundraiser to promote waste-free lunches at our school and Laptop Lunches makes a donation back to the school-LOVE IT!
Please check out their website. It's great for adults too who brown bag it. They are bento boxes so it is great for portion control and they even offer a healthy cookbook. Now you can GREEN BAG it!:)

Cheetah Girl Bollywood Party

Disney and Girl Scouts got together and hosted parties all over to celebrate the premiere weekend of Cheetah Girls: One World. It was to show diversity, community service and friendship to the girls.

75 girls attended our event at Lamppost Pizza and they enjoyed pizza and cake, took a quiz, learned how to wrap a Sari, danced and won some prizes.
My daughter, Sheridan, won a Cheetah Girl magnet set for her correct answer on the quiz and another girl from our troop, Sophie, won a beautiful Sari!

Pink Saturday

Welcome to my very first Pink Saturday post...I'm so excited! I hope you enjoy the photos. The top pic is a fake cake I got on eBay for my daughter to play with in her playhouse. Many of her little playmates have tried to steal, I mean borrow it :)

This is a new set of tea cups from Royal Doulton. My wedding china is Old Country Roses and I just love all of the pink on these!

This is a chocolate set I bought at the Rose Bowl Swap Meet a few years ago.

These cut glass knobs are on one of my hutches in the dining room. They are also from the Rose Bowl Swap Meet.

Thanks for stopping by! See you next time!

Grease is the Word

We had our final scheduled backyard movie last night-Grease. I asked our guests to dress as their favorite T-Bird or Pink Lady. I set up a make-your-own sundae bar and malt making station. The favors were sunglasses and fuzzy dice. My friend's teenage daughter, Yasi, made a beautiful cake from scratch- even the fondant! I can even still do the Hand Jive! It was a great way to end our Summer Backyard Movie Series...can't wait til next year!

Back to School!

It's the most wonderful time of the year....! I just love those Staple commercials. This is how I woke up the kiddies (singing) as they headed back to school. The kids are in 8th, 5th and 2nd. They love their electives and teachers (first time in a few years Chasen didn't request a teacher change) . The best part though was when my friend Suzie hosted a Back to School Potluck Tea. Mommies doing what Mommies do best--talk and eat!

Kidnap Breakfast

Today is the last day of summer vacation for us and Brownie Troop 118 celebrated the start of the new school year with a kidnap breakfast. I notified the parents last week that we would be picking up the girls between 7-7:30 am. I only had to wake up 2 girls my daughter, Sheridan and Abby) Abby's dad video taped me waking her up. Thank goodness she wasn't a grump! The girls went in their pajamas and were not allowed to brush their hair. We all headed over to IHOP for some yummy pancakes. It was a really fun way to start our second year of Brownie Girl Scouts!

Walt Disney Studios

Sometimes you just get those Dream clients!

I booked a princess party with a woman who is a lawyer with Disney Studios. She invited me to the studios to discuss the details of the party today. We had spoken on the phone a few weeks ago and we just seemed to click. She is so sweet (and organized) and offered to buy me lunch as well! She even let me use her employee discount in the Disney Store. Love her! After the party plans were hashed out and my yummy lunch was finished, we said our goodbyes. Blessed with this oppurtunity, I gave myself a self-guided tour. I am looking forward to more fabulous clients like this!

Big Sur

This was our first family vacation in 3 years. Our first stop was at Hearst Castle. I hadn't been there since I was 19. It is just incredible! The kids wanted to swim in the Nepture Pool and indoor pool. I was in awe of the 3500 year old Egyptian statues. We went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium on Day 2. Lunch at Bubba Gump's and tour of the Victorian homes in Pacific Grove.

We took a tour of the Point Sur Lighthouse. We climbed an elevation of 300' and the tour lasted over 3 hours! Sheridan had to have a light prism of her own (it looks like a giant diamond) Girls just love all sparkly things!

Chasen and I took a hike up the hill above our lodge and saw the recent fire damage. It was amazing how close it came to the Big Sur Lodge.

On our way back home, we encountered a herd of Elephant Seals on the beach south of Cambria. Totally cool! The females and babies were sunning themselves on the beach while the males were having a slug fest in the surf.

It was a great vacation and we now await the first day of school on Wednesday...yeah!
