Breakfast at Tiffany's party

A previous client of mine (I hosted her daughter's Tinkerbell party last September) saw pictures of the Breakfast at Tiffany's party my friends and I hosted for Suzanne's 50th birthday. She asked me to do the same for her friend's 40th birthday.
I used white tablecloths with blue satin runners to highlight the white plates. The napkin rings were giant diamond rings and the placecard holders were mini crystal frames. I also had long black gloves for the utensils and for the guests to have fun pretending and their were white roses in silver mint julep cups. I used tissue pom poms from Pom Love and hung individual crystals over the food table.

The hostess made these yummy fruit and granola parfaits and the adorable cupcakes.

I gave all of the guests Audrey inspired sunglasses as party favors.

The birthday girl received a tiara and everyone had mini Tiffany inspired boxes filled with Hershey Kisses on their plate. Happy Birthday Allison!

Sleeping with the Fishes

This weekend, I'm heading down to Sea World San Diego with my Brownie Girl Scout troop. The girls have been earning money for this trip for 2 years. We will be sleeping in the Beluga whale exhibit and enjoying a private tour of Sea World. Even family members are joining us! Have a nice weekend!

Sneak Peek

I have been painting a lot lately. This weekend, I painted my family room. This week, I will finish up my kitchen walls and cabinets. I thought I would give you a tiny peek at what I have in mind for my family room. Above is a picture of my new blue walls. Before they were a sage-ish green. It is much brighter in here and I like it much better!

In my Garage sale post, you will notice that my decor was cream, sage green and barn red with touches of black. It wasn't reaally "me" with the cream and black but it went with the Waverly Country Rose fabric that I really loved. I have fallen in love with Cath Kidston over the years and simply must go in a different design direction!

I just hung the red check fabric up on the wall because I like instant gratification. I will be making curtains out of it and sewing MANY pillows to go on my new white sectional. That's also a new modern area rug and I gave my grandmother's table a fresh coat of cherry red paint. The tv stand isn't quite done with the paint job :)
This is what I'm hoping for-whimsical, elegant, vintage and modern at the same time.
These are my new everyday dishes. I used to have Southern Living dishes in yellow, red and green. I just LOVE these! It makes me very happy to eat off of them everyday. My tea tastes better out of my pretty cup!
I'm off to do more painting!

Garage Sale

Last weekend, I had a garage sale. You see, I had this great idea of completely changing the look of my family room and adjoining kitchen. To help pay for this undertaking and to make some room in my garage, I sold some of my belongings. Above is a picture of my custom chandelier made from vintage red toile tea cups. I have another one (a 4 arm) made with a coordinating tea pot. Neither one of these beauties sold. Anyone interested? $100 each or best offer.
People who attended my sale thought I had opened a store. Everything coordinated and I thought I set things up rather nicely.
These lovely pink items were from Sheridan's room. Last summer, her room had a total transformation into purple.

I still have my couch, pine tv cabinet, big chair, Southern Living dishes and chandeliers. I'm going to try again on Saturday to sell some more. Let me know if you are interested in the chandeliers. I would really love for them to go to a good home :)

Easter Cupcakes

I made strawberry cupcakes to bring to my mom's Easter dinner. The "grass" is edible and I got it from WalMart. It even came in pink and blue. Happy Easter!
