Donna, what a fabulous tradition! This brings back so many memories of the years my daughter danced in The Nutcracker with the ballet company she belonged to....she started out as a "child" in the opening party scene, then was in the Chinese Dance, Waltz of the Flowers, a Snowflake and the Candy Cane Dance. THEN she was in high school and volleyball and basketball practice conflicted with ballet practice. It was a sad day for me when she had to quit, but I had many wonderful years of watching her grow as a dancer and performer. Plus, I helped make many costumes in the early years when the company was first formed....it's still going strong, by the way, but I think they order all of the costumes now! :) Sheridan was a gorgeous Sugar Plum....what a lovely time.

PS Oh, yes, one year I was in the opening scene with my BIL....we played parents and I made a Victorian dress to wear..and we did a little dance, too. There were about six couples...we had a blast.
