This is my 7th birthday, quite possibly my favorite. It really sticks out in my mind because I got a card from one of my grandmother's friends and it had a punch out crown. I thought that was the best!
My parties were very simple...Pin the tail on the Donkey, Hot Potato, Musical Chairs, cake and ice cream and then open presents. It seemed to be the same each year.
Another thing that was the same every year was where my mom got my birthday cake- Martino's Bakery in Burbank. It is still in business and I love to get their maple tea cakes!
This is my 10th birthday. This is the birthday when I received my 10 speed Free Spirit bike. It was white with blue and red stripes and it made me feel so grown up. My previous bike was pale pink with a banana seat, a plastic wicker basket on the front handle bars and a playing card clothes-pinned to the spokes. The 10 speed was definetly a more mature bike.
Later, I will post some pictures from my 40th birthday Parisien Soiree!

How cute! Your kids look just like you! I never noticed that until I saw that picture of you!
Your birthday photos look just like mine did back then, all the girls in dresses and everyone always had birthday hats on! Too cute!
We have the SAME birthday! I will be 41 this year! Are you turning 40? My Mom used to put the same kind of ribbon in my hair.:) Happy Birthday- early!:) Lori
Well you are a lucky girl. I never had a real birthday party before. I come from a family with five kids and lots of cousins. We also were pretty poor back then. So we would get together with the cousins and our family and have cake. Most of the time it was nothing special. Just one with roses or something from the local store bakery.
Even as an adult I've never had a birthday party. Maybe that is why I love giving them for others????
Happy Birthday and I must say you have not changed a bit.
Hugs,
Joanne
I love the nostalgia of it all...and how simple life used to be!
Definately takes you back! What great pictures. I have some that look like that too! Hope you have a wonderful birthday next week! You should celebrate all weekends :)
I don't recall having a "real" birthday party as a kid. It's so great that your mom did get a few photos. . . do you think she was your party planning inspiration? Your photo of age 10 shows so much resemblance to Chasen and Sheridan. :)
Yummmmmy, those cinnamon rolls looked awesome! I'm certain every recipe in PW Cookbook is good. She doesn't skimp on terrific ingredients.
Have a great weekend. We're digging out of more snow and FREEZING in KC!

Happy Birthday!
Thanks so much for sharing your blast from the past pictures. I had to laugh, I too had a bike with a banana seat back in the day.
I appreciate your party inspirations that you share. You are awesome!
